The humanistic crisis in contemporary Nigerian society and the world at large demands pedagogical interventions of making morality and development of citizenship integral parts of education at all levels. The progression of any human society depends largely on the educational content and relevance that will ensure human and environmental survival and progression. Given the complexity of social structures today moral instruction cannot be left to families or other social units alone, but rather should be an integral part of formal instruction in moral values into the academic programs which will provide the requites attitudes. Knowledge and skills acquisition, as well as the employment of values based pedagogical approaches in the program delivery. The institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools Province of Nigeria encouraged by the success we have registered in Education at secondary level, thought it wise to take up the challenges and contribute our quota in providing quality, holistic Education that is anchored on moral excellence and skill acquisition at the tertiary level. The starting point is Polytechnic “MARIST POLYTECHNIC”. Located at Umuchigbo, Iji-Nike Community, in Enugu East L.G.A at Enugu State Nigeria.

Marist Polytechnic adopt the general philosophy and goal of technical education as contained in the National Policy of Education which specify thus: The National philosophy of Education is based on ‘The integration of the individual into a sound and effective citizen, and the provision of equal Educational opportunities for all citizens at primary, secondary and tertiary’ levels both inside and outside the formal school system” (National Policy on Education -4th edition 2013). The philosophy, vision, mission and objectives of Marist Polytechnic are largely based on and in line with the national philosophy and objectives of technical education. However the philosophy of the polytechnic shall be; progression of Nigerian society through environmental survival, social order and economic well-being. This shall be attained through the development of citizenry with the right moral, values attitudes and skills. This is a philosophy for which we the institute of the Marist brothers of the Schools is committed.

Marist Polytechnic is located at Umuchigbo, Iji-Nike. community in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. A total land requirement allocated for the polytechnic is 25.6 hectares. The location is serene, befitting, easily accessible and very conducive for effective teaching and learning. The Ekulu river is her next door natural resources neighbor to provide water in an area where potable drinking water is hard to come-by. The overview of Akanu Ibiam International Air-port across the Ekulu river is indeed a welcome sight for all visitors to Marist Polytechnic.
